My stay was on 4th of July weekend 2014. Staff was friendly, they had a nice breakfast that was included in daily price. Rooms were clean and OK, only complaint the beds were more like full size and not comfortable at all, pool and jacuzzi were good the pool was heated. All in all good experience I would stay again they do need to revisit the condition of the beds.

After a very disappointing stay at your “resort”, my only satisfaction is leaving a negative review. I was attracted to Banana Bay Resort by your webpage showing beautiful accommodations and above all, a beach, but it was all a blatant lie. We paid in advance through Travelocity for a 4-day stay. Upon our arrival, we were told that we were being upgraded (I was not told the reason) to a suite with a sofa and kitchenette and it was next to the beach. It sounded wonderful! As we drove through the parking lot to get to room 308 at the end, we saw just an old fashioned single floor motel. Our room was facing the pool and we could see the sea from there. When we opened the door, we were greeted by an awful stench like an attic that has not been opened in years. Since they were booked solid and there were no vacancies, I set out to find another hotel but Key West was fully booked everywhere. I was willing to make the move and fight for a refund later on. I purchased a big bottle of Febreze and sprayed it all over the walls, sofa, bed and carpets. I could not use the drawers because they smelled the same way inside and did that several times during my stay. The two-burner electric stove could not be used because they were loose. The bedroom window was facing the collection area for tree trimmings (hence trash). For three days, a clear plastic trash bag was left on the hallway, in front of room 305, and it was there when we left. What really offended me was your use of the word “beach” on your webpage. While there is sand in that part of the property, no one can expect to go bathing or swimming there. It is just where the sea water meets the rocks and it is quite low but, it’s no beach!

Location has a number of nice amenities, but a few areas are in need of renovation. Some pros: Staff was very friendly. Nice king size bed. Great balcony on 2nd floor. Pool, beach, and hot tub Some cons: Wallpaper was peeling in areas. Water temperature was all over the place. Poor room doors.

As soon as we hit Key West, got on the phone and called several hotels for pricing. Banana Bay was not the cheapest. What made us choose Banana Bay was the desk clerk who answered the phone. I forgot his name but was very accommodating and patiently answered all questions and concerns. We loved everything about our room. We were a bit surprised at the pool the next day. We did not realize this was an adult resort until we observed a couple nude sun bathers. Nothing was offensive and we enjoyed our 3 day stay. The price was great for the quality of the room and the breakfast was good as well. We felt safe leaving our motorcycles out at night since they had night security. We will definitely will visit Banana Bay Resort again when we visit Key West. Upon check out, we had the same great and friendly service with the female desk clerk. Gotta remember to get names. :)
