Finally, a bagel shop that actually knows how to make bagels. The coffee is good. Adequate variety and selection. Awesome service. Clean, small interior. Perfect for a quick bagel fix. Breakfast sandwiches are excellent. As Portland as it gets!

True New York style bagels, and the breakfast food they put on them is a foodie dream. Real, fresh, creative! Wish we had discovered this on our first day in Portland instead of our last! Mmmmm!

Decent New York style bagels, but not quite like what you would actually get in NYC. Still, better than any other bagel shop in the area and worth a try if you want something a step up from the larger bagel chains.

Disappointed.... I read the reviews (i.e. Willamette Week "Five Local Rabbis Pick", etc.) and thought I would try, even though it was clear to me that Portland had lost the best bagel company to Einsteins in 2011. I ordered a traditional bagel sandwich (egg, bacon, cheese) on a toasted everything bagel. I asked for mayonnaise and mustard and they had neither. I was shocked to find something I avoid at the chain bagel shops and fast food places; an egg that looks like a microwaved disk. The second bagel was a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel and I asked for a honey containing cream cheese (i.e. with almonds..) and also found out that was not a choice. The chef was kind enough to offer mixing honey in their regular cream cheese which worked. After spending the $12 for the two bagels and a large hot chocolate, I had to search for my condiments to eat my breakfast bagel. If I had to choose again, I would chose a different breakfast location.

The interior is lovely and I was excited at the idea of artisanal bagels in Portland. I was surprised at the high prices, but hoped that the quality would reflect the cost. Sadly, the everything bagels were strikingly over flavored with overpowering fennel. The onion bagel had a strangely aromatic chemical taint which prevented me from stomaching more than two bites. Cream cheese was parsimoniously applied. Not recommended. Coffee is also expensive and below average.
