    The experience is great because that's how you are swayed into signing the paperwork. The Chevy Cruze LT 2012 i bought starting giving me issues 5 months after purchasing. Check engine light came on. DO NOT PURCHASE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY; IT'S A PAIN IN THE BALLS! They do not pay the taxes charged for albor and parts, plus they will consume an entire days time just to piss you off so you will say, "Nevermind! I have a life and can't sit here all day f***ing around with you; i will just pay out of pocket!" Don't believe me, go for it! Take whatever vehicle you are purchasing from there to a dealership first to get them to look it over; I'm having serious trust issues after my purchase!

    Went into Carmax to purchase a vehicle. They didnt have a van I could afford so they had one shipped to the lot. I paid $200 transfer fee and was told 4-7 days. At 4 days I asked for an update via email to the salesman that was handling our purchase. No response. At 6 days same thing. No response. On day 7 I called and was told tomorrow. The next morning at 11am I emailed them again. No response. At 1 and at 5. Still nothing. I went to the store, mind you, now I'm missing school. Sales manager was really helpful and found the van had arrived just a few hours earlier. He had it prepped and ready for me in 30 min. He also refunded my transfer fee. Which is great. When I signed all the paperwork I was told that I should have my refund on my debit card in a few days. No problem. That was 2 weeks ago. So I called and was told "We dont do debit card reversals" and would be sent a check. NOW I have to wait up to 7 more days for my money. Would have been nice to have known that 2 weeks ago. This whole experience has been less than easy with them. I don't know if its just this location, but I wouldn't go back. If you do go to Carmax, be very careful.

    Purchased a 2011 BMW 335D. My sales rep really went out of the way to help me in every way. I felt for the first time ever that he was genuine and not chasing the sale with me. The sales manager was firm but quite fair as well. Unfortunately the pre and post sale treatment couldn't have been different. I would really have to think before purchasing a car from them again because of the service dept alone. What was promised to me as part of the deal of buying the car, i had to fight with them several days in a row to get. I had to finally involve the sales manager which i was told he would take care of it, but i never heard from him or service on an update. I had to go up there and talk to the service manager. Example: Front brakes pulsing badly, instead of doing the brake job right, they only agreed to replace the rotors but reuse old pads. Considering the major pulsing, especially on an expensive BMW, come on. I had to buy the pads. $80 Upon inspecting the car once in my possession the rear brakes were a far gone as they could be still to "pass" CarMax's quality check. The driver side was so low i had to replace the rotors and pads. $170. The car in accessory mode started a voltage warning within 3-4 mins of listening to the radio. Found the battery was going bad and no longer measured the 720CA / 90AH capacity when charged fully. Replaced and programmed on my own dime. Normally a $500 bill as it needs to be programmed. Still over $200+ out of my pocket. Found vents are jammed on half the car. Will fix myself. This a week after picking the car up.

    Don't trust their promise to hold car for you... After spending weeks of visiting BMW and Carmax dealerships, I finally selected BMW 328i from CarMax, Capital Blvd, Raleigh. I liked the condition and price of the car, so I wanted to close the deal as soon as possible. I asked them some basic questions about the maintenance program. They did not know the answers and it was Sunday so they couldn't contact BMW. They told me that they will get back to me and meanwhile hold that car for me. Next morning I received a call from the sales guy with the information on maintenance program. I told him that I have made arrangements of financing and will go there in the evening once I get out of office. He told me that the car is on hold and not to worry about it. Roughly after 2 hours, I got call from the same guy saying that there has been some misunderstanding and his manager put the car for sale online. Someone, purchased the car and they transferred it to the different location. I was not notified of anything and salesman was claiming that neither was he. Because of their mistake, I lost a deal of a good car and now I have to search all over again.

    Horrible experience. The commercials say they will buy your car even if you don't buy theirs but they wouldn't EVEN appraise mine once they realized that I wasn't interested in playing a $109 transfer fee on a vehicle from another state that I couldn't even test drive and they had nothing on their lot I was interested in. One of the salesmen I was speaking to to set up an appointment for an appraisal for the next day even went so far as to make a comment that "I know what's going on here". Not real sure what he meant by that but came across as rude. Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean you can treat me like that.
