Just completed a three-night stay at Tom and Carolyn's warm and welcoming B & B. The pros are many: friendly innkeepers who also respect their guest's privacy. Great care taken with all elements of the experience, yet managing to feel natural and "unforced". The view of the cove itself is lovely, and all the grounds and buildings are conducive to a relaxing stay. Tom and Carolyn were responsive, CLEAR, informative about their island, and made us feel at home. The breakfasts were delicious; everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and Tom was always right there with the caffeine! There is free beer and sodas at all times, and Carolyn's delicious and dangerous (!!) homemade cookies. There are only a couple of things to be mindful of, and I want to emphasize these are NOT complaints: people do want certain things in certain ways, so, some things worth mentioning. In several of the rooms in both the main house and cottage, there are communal spaces right outside bedroom doors. All the guests were respectful of the privacy and peace and quiet of the others, but it may not always be so. Again, not the "fault" of the innkeepers, but a reality of the set up of the residences. One of the pluses--for us--was the relatively secluded nature of Coveside. However, it ~is~ that: secluded. There are two wonderful restaurants--5 Island Lobster and The Osprey, the latter of which also had terrific, A+ quality service--and we did not scrape the surface of what to do on the island, but you will need to plan if you do not wish to drive off the island--to Bath, Boothbay, etc... All-in-all, a really enjoyable stay, all too brief, and one which, given the chance, we would love to repeat.

We looked out the window as the sun was coming over the horizon. The air was still and you could only hear an occasional motor of a lobsterman heading out to tend his traps. There were some voices drifting over the water as the last boat was loading bait for their traps at the wharf across the cove. Soft voices came from below and soon they were accompanied by the smells of baking bread and bacon frying for breakfast. Soon we looked at each other and decided that it was time to get up and start another fantastic day wandering around Georgetown and walking the beautiful beaches and rocks at Read State Park. Just another day at Cove Side. Great.

Wonderful B&B for people who prefer calm walking in the gorgeous landscape and enjoy inspiring talks during breakfast or in the evening. Great breakfasts served between 8 and 9 a.m. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

This was our second time staying with Tom and Carolyn and if possible, it was even better than the first. The location is wonderful, the layout welcoming, the breakfasts the best. Our quest on the first visit two years ago was to visit a friend who has a summer home in Georgetown, this time our quest was to stay at Coveside with a great benefit being we could visit our friend as well. Don't pass up the opportunity to relax at Coveside, take a quick trip to the Georgetown Country Store and bring back a great lunch and some wine. Take a trip down the hill to Five Islands Lobster for great food and to just pass the time watching the boats come in and unload. Tom and Carolyn have a great place made better by them being there.

We stayed with Tom and Carolyn for three days in May, from foggy Wednesday to sparkling Saturday. Great local signage on the approach. We were made very welcome when we arrived tired (and early) with tea, beer and cookies. A different breakfast each day, prepared by a chef and delivered by the Maitre d. The location is quiet and scenic, with quirky local shops and excellent eateries, we loved 5 Island lobster and the Osprey restaurant. For a quiet break *****
