i went to hamburg and red oak iowa and before i left kansas to hamburg i was told to go here before i went to south dakota. My great aunt and great uncle, and grandparents were telling me how it is and wonderful it is and then my 3rd cousin was showing me a few pictuers of the place. I was like i not going to go to it it looks and seems boring (to my self didnt tell them that). When i got to hamburg iowa and red oak well another aunt and uncle (red oak), my 1st cousins (hamburg) was telling me i need to go there before i left. WELL i thought to my self i guess to see why i have to see it and that. OH MY GOODNESS words cant describe the place, pictures cant describe the place. The Grotto Of Redemption is something your going to have to see for your self. Also the gift shop is somthing else your wantint to check it out to.

I was taken here as a young girl from Sioux City, Ia. The memory of this experience made a hug

I feel I should preface this by saying I am in no way a religious person. I have been to the Grotto several times in my life, and even as an agnostic person this is still an amazing destination. It is a gorgeous creation, and an awe-inspiring testament to the builder's faith. Don't be turned away if you aren't Christian... this is still a very neat landmark.

Such a cool place! My grandma told me about this Grotto created by a priest that brought rocks from around the world and built several structures/shrines/scenes from the bible. I didn't imagine it would be as amazing as it was. We were there off hours so we did not see the gift shop or museum but the grotto itself is worth seeing on your own.
