Had an awesome time at Ibis Bay! Rooms are on the small size, but we didn't come on vacation to hang out in a hotel room! On site rentals are reasonably priced, you can rent a bike with basket and lock for 48 hours for less than 50 bucks! Hotel has a 3 stop shuttle bus that runs till 9pm! Bus driver even lapped back around to pick up stragglers because the "last" bus of the night was full!! Pool side bar has the best bartender, Rick was awesome, delivered us drinks in the pool!!!! So glad I didn't read the bogus bad reviews before we went, definitely worth checking out!!!

We arrived 1/29/15 and were early for check-in. The receptionist did all he could to accommodate us and find a room as our designated room wasn't ready. I booked a beachfront room and the room he provided was actually behind some shrub on the end of the beach - technically beach-front, but not really. I went back to request a room change. He was quite friendly, and when we came back closer to check-in, we had a waterfront room ready for us. We loved our room! The decor is bright with a beach theme and it has a boutique feel. It doesn't advertise as the Hilton, and don't expect that - the floors in the beachfront rooms are tile and the table and chairs are colorful patio furniture, but it works, and it was the experience we expected. The beds are firm but yet you sink into a foam-like topper - very comfortable. Our room opens onto the bay and landscaping provides for some privacy. There is considerable road noise sitting on our patio area, but it is noisy and built-up all around this part of Key West and the wind in the palms helped to make the road noise more of a white-noise background. There's a grocery store and K-Mart across the street, and the hotel provide a free shuttle to old town. Free wi-fi did the job, and water toy rentals are on site. We would definitely book this place again if we return to Key West.

Great resort. Our room had a sliding glass door that opened up to our on private patio complete with a little table, two chairs and a hammock! Nothing makes you feel like your in paradise more then a Key West water view and a hammock under palms. Staff were pleasent and helpful, especially the guys at the bike rental hut. Biking is the best way to explore the island and you can rent them reasonably-priced right on property. We used the resort shuttle to Mallory Square, super convenient. Loved the In room amenities, Key Lime shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bar soap. Wanted to buy it and you can right in the gift shop. Loved our stay!

MAKE SURE YOU READ THIS! *COCKROACHES*! We stayed at the Iris Bay Resort this past March. After upgrading our room and spending ($360 per night), we wake up to a cockroach in our bathroom on our personal belongings. We called front desk ASAP, they gave us the "run around". We spoke with Gina (property manager) and her response, "these things happen all over Key West & she can't authorize a 3rd party booking". My best friend staying overnight mentioned to Gina, that she lived down the street in a house for 3.5 years and never ONCE had a roach in her house. Gina (deer in the headlights), told her lies in a different manner, that "pest control" comes out weekly (as if THAT had anything to do with me). Being caught in her own lies, we ask for a higher up manager. We now wasted another hour waiting for manager/owner to appear, Chris, to speak about this issue; simple nods and smirks- he responds, "its just a palm meadow bug". Are you reading this? FYI, a bug called a "cockroach". Thinking that he is outsmarting us and the situation with his bug/roach knowledge, he mentions the 3rd party issue and that we can't be refunded. We explain to Chris that the 3rd party agent granted a refund but is awaiting approval from Chris; additionally, we have our receipt from our upgrade, paid in cash to perhaps receive a refund- (which wasn't 3rd party, {$45}). He answers FLAT OUT, " No, I'm NOT giving you a refund, end of story...and also you need to get off my property because you are disrupting my business. Leave now." We were shocked by the level of unprofessionalism that Chris showed us after spending hours of our limited vacation time, dealing with this seemingly simple, fixable matter. In conclusion, be advised that no compromises will ever be had, that the customers are always wrong and that we, as the customers, are always trying to pull the "so called" wool over the managements eyes . Wonderful customer service ideology right? Be aware that an upgrade for most hotels means additional amenities and services but for Ibis Bay, it means showering with cockroaches. We should have read the reviews a little more thoroughly before booking this pig sty. HEADS UP... Do your homework and read about these buildings before you sleep in them. They were manifested with Bed Bugs, and cockroaches once before... But ready??? It was previously a paid by the hour establishment, if you catch my drift. ALSO, read the past reviews/stories of these SAME managers (Gina and Chris) and the way they treat all customers (especially the younger crowd). Being in our late 20's/early 30's, they completely disrespected us. They make you feel as if you were in the wrong from these issues, but their lack of management skills just proves that they are just another weak establishment and obvious crooks. They lie and mistreat customers, and will say anything to make you believe them. There are some beautiful resorts closer to the strip, and they are "roach" free.
