The prices on the specialty food I buy my cats are quite reasonable, especially compared to Petco. Centinella doesn't sell what my cats like. I have asked the staff a ZILLION questions about my orphaned 3 day old baby I found and they have been very helpful. Every suggestion for a product has been right on the mark. I was quite surprised to see the bad comments and I haven't seen any puppies in the place. I am giving it 4 stars in case the Puppy Mill thing is true. Sadly, puppies born in puppy mills need love too.

I moved up to LA a little over a year ago now and this was the first pet store we had gone to while it was in it's previous location. We got our cat from there and she was sick for the first 6 months we had her. The newer location is very close to our apartment and I walk up there with my son for pet food and everytime we go there they are so unfriendly (I am always so nice, kill them with kindness if my motto). When we got our puppy we went there to get supplies, collar, food, bowls etc. and they had told us that our puppy was too young and didn't need a collar because we shouldn't walk her (she was up to date with shots) I just felt it a little rude to tell us what we should/shouldn't do with OUR puppy especially when our vet had OK'd walking her. It just didn't feel like advice, it felt like they were talking down to us. They do have a great selection of products which is why I keep going, but everytime it is the same experience. Not sure if it's because I am a young mother or what, I don't understand why everyone else is raving about their great costumer service.

I'm surprised to read many horrible reviews about this place. I moved up to Brentwood from San Diego back in June and was struggling to find a pet store that carried Nature's Variety for my pug. Sure enough, Elaine's had it! While I was there, Elaine struck up a conversation with me and I began to explain to her that our Pug is suffering from some sort of allergic reaction that makes his skin break out in horrible scabs. I told her what the vet has been telling us and how much money it has been costing us for the continued cortisone treatments, anti-biotics and that they suggested an over the counter benadryl would work. Well it wasn't working and we we're becoming very frustrated. Elaine shared a similar story about her dogs and suggested that it may be the chicken or grains in his diet that he has developed a reaction to. She helped me set up a plan to ween him off his old food and onto a gluten-free/chicken free diet without causing stomach upset. She was so helpful! His skin has been much better since changing his diet and I stopped giving him the benadryl. The vet was telling us that we would have to undergo extensive work (i.e. $$$) to figure out if it was a food allergy. Elaine is super knowledgeable and more than willing to help! I love visiting the Pet Depot!

My pet had a anesthesia free teeth cleaning at Elaine's. My cat became sick the next morning and I had to take her to the ER. I stopped administering her the AB which was administered by the vet at Elaines. The vet at the ER suspected that she had been given something during the procedure without us knowing that caused an adverse reaction and doubted that the AB could have caused it. I wouldn't go back obviously...and hear that Hounds Tooth is better. Also, when I told the owner of the tooth cleaning service she said this never happens..well it happened to my cat. My experience with the vets at Pet Depot were never good. My other cat got sick at 11 years old after having a vaccination there and the Pet Depot doctors were oblivious to the cause. There was no way to contact the vet after the teeth cleaning procedure which was disturbing. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend them.

They don't do a good job of "caring" when it comes to our dogs. Don't get your dog groomed at this place. My dogs ears were red and scratched deep to the point that the dog would scream some times from pain. Its how we found out. So lesson of the day buy stuff from them but don't leave your dog with them.
