There are a number of reasons for buying pet supplies at Paws & Claws. First, it is a locally-owned business, not a huge national chain with every store looking the same. Secondly, the owners really care about customers and their fuzzy, furred and feathered friends. Third, it is very clear that they - the owners -know what they are talking about and they offer good suggestions about keeping our companions healthy and happy. Fifth, they stock natural products: Primal raw foods practically saved the life of our sick pup. It is a small store and set up in a way that makes it easy to find what you want and to look at whatever else is available. There is also the fun of talking about new and improved products. Plus baths and parking in the rear - wow! Diane and Ruth are terrific and it is important that we patronize this store that was instrumental in bringing the Dimond business neighborhood back to life. THANKS, PAWS & CLAWS !!

What an easy, pleasant, productive and inexpensive experience ! I took my best friend ( a Lab mix ) for a walk which took me past Paws & Claws. We decided to turn-around and check-out the place... I'm really glad we did ! The employees ( owners ? ) were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I noticed a variety of dogfood brands that I recognized as the best of the best. But what really got me was the do-it-yourself dog bath setup. Bottom Line: I paid twelve bucks to wash and dry " Spark " - the fee is based on your friend's weight range... Spark weighs 55 pounds. I left with a clean & happy dog, and no floor to mop-up, etc. One great deal. I'll probably go back and get some of the quality food they sell, but the easy bathing experience is definitely going to bring me and Spark back there. One Great Place !

Paws and Claws has THE best groomer ever. Hands down! After a disappointing experience with a groomer 5 minutes away from my home I jumped on Yelp and saw the 5-star review P&C had, with over 80 reviews mind you. I was excited to check it out. I called and spoke with Hayley while booking my appt. She was friendly, explained what each service entailed, and made me feel at ease. When my and my two pug dogs arrived for our appointment the shop was adorable. Street parking wasn't hard to find and as soon we walked I knew I had struck gold. The staff was more than friendly and responded so well to my dogs. I was taken to the middle/back room to fill out some paperwork which had walls covered in photos of dogs and their owners from different events the store held They had gates so the dogs could roam around which was great. I could see the grooming area and it looked (and smelled) clean. My dogs were at such ease I was amazed. I met Hayley and she again walked me through what she did. She then asked "do you mind if they smell like blue berries?", I said I didn't mind and she explained that as part of the bath each dog would get an organic blueberry mask applied to their face. Um, can I get groomed too??! She asked all the right questions and after finding out my older dog was itching from dry winter skin, offered to apply a skin-conditioner free of charge. I was shocked, amazed, and ecstatic. For $40 they got bathed, conditioned, squeezed, face-masked, and their nails clipped. She will even brush their teeth for an extra cost. The even better part is that she quoted me 1.5 hours for both of them and she stuck to it. My older pug dog hates getting his nails clipped and squirms a lot (it's like trying to hold onto a basketball that isn't happy). Hayley handled it like a pro and never bad-mouthed him, even after I apologized if he was difficult to clip. She's amazing, you can tell she loves what she does and that every doggie client she has loves her back. I can't tell you the night and day experience I had from my last groomer. My dogs no longer have to literally be dragged into the groomer, they no longer sit in a kennel for hours waiting to be groomed, they are more than excited to go in and always greet Hayley with open paws and wagging tails. It's a great price for an amazing experience. No matter where I moved to around the bay area I would always keep coming back here, and I would recommend it to ANYONE who needs a dog (or cat) groomed.

Paws and Claws is a great locally owned Oakland pet store specializing in natural, organic pet food. They have great self-serve baths for dogs. I buy my organic chicken feed their for my feathered egg-laying family members. Good prices. Locally owned. Expert, helpful advice.
